Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026.

These terms apply to your use of southernhighlandstreeservices.com.au and to any enquiry you make through this website or by calling (02) 4214 4160. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Read them alongside the Disclaimer, which explains the referral model in detail, and the Privacy Policy.

1. What this website is

This is a referral website. Its purpose is to connect people in the Southern Highlands who need tree work with independent tree contractors who carry out that work.

The operator of this website does not climb trees, does not operate machinery on your property, and is not the contractor who quotes or performs the job.

2. Making an enquiry does not create a contract for work

Submitting a form or making a phone call is a request to be put in touch with a contractor. It is not an offer, an acceptance, or a booking, and it does not oblige anyone to attend or to quote.

Any agreement for tree work is formed directly between you and the independent contractor. Scope, price, timing, access arrangements, payment terms, variations, warranties and any guarantee are matters between the two of you. The website operator is not a party to that agreement, does not set prices, does not supervise the work and does not handle your payment.

3. Quotes and prices

No price appears on this website, and nothing on it is a quote. Tree work is priced on inspection, because access, height, species, what sits underneath and how the debris leaves the site drive the cost far more than the tree's dimensions do.

Get your quote in writing from the contractor, with the scope itemised, before work starts.

4. Approvals are your responsibility

Tree and vegetation work in Wingecarribee Shire is regulated. Depending on your zoning, mapping and heritage status, you may need approval from Wingecarribee Shire Council or, on rural land, may be subject to the native vegetation framework administered under state legislation.

Obtaining any required approval is the property owner's responsibility. A contractor may help you understand the process and may prepare information for an application, but neither the contractor nor the website operator can give you legal or planning advice or approve the work on Council's behalf. Confirm your specific tree and property with Wingecarribee Shire Council on 02 4868 0888 before work is booked.

You also confirm, by making an enquiry, that you are the owner of the property concerned or have the owner's authority to arrange work on it.

5. Information on this site is general

Everything published here about species, soils, frost, pruning practice, seasonal timing, storm behaviour and Council requirements is general information written in good faith from publicly available sources. It is not an arboricultural assessment of your tree, and it is not legal, planning, engineering or insurance advice. Do not act on it without having your own situation looked at.

Rules and fees change. Information correct on the day it was written may not be correct today.

6. Availability of the site

We aim to keep the site up and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, free of errors, or free of anything harmful transmitted by third parties. Access may be suspended or withdrawn at any time.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use this site to submit false or misleading enquiries, to send another person's details without their consent, to attempt to interfere with or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems, or to scrape or republish its content for commercial purposes.

8. Intellectual property

The text, layout, structure and design of this website belong to the site operator or its licensors. You may read it, print it and share links to it. You may not copy substantial parts of it onto another website.

Where we link to Council pages, government resources or other external sites, we do so because they were useful at the time of writing. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or availability.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of this website is not liable for any loss, damage, cost or injury arising from:

  • the acts, omissions, advice, workmanship or conduct of any independent contractor;
  • any dispute, agreement or transaction between you and a contractor;
  • reliance on the general information published on this site; or
  • any interruption to, or error in, the site itself.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability can be limited rather than excluded, it is limited to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

11. Emergencies

This website is not an emergency service and enquiries are not monitored around the clock. In an emergency call 000. For a tree on or near powerlines, call Endeavour Energy on 131 003 and stay at least 8 metres clear. For storm damage assistance, call the NSW SES on 132 500.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. The version published on this page applies from the date shown at the top, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
