What this website is
southernhighlandstreeservices.com.au is a referral website.
When you send an enquiry through this site, or ring (02) 4214 4160, your details are passed to an independent tree contractor working in the Southern Highlands. That contractor contacts you, inspects the site, quotes the job and does the work.
The operator of this website is not the business that cuts your tree. We make the introduction. We do not employ the crew, own the equipment, or perform any tree work ourselves.
We would rather you knew that before you called than after, which is why it is set out here in full and disclosed in the footer of every page on the site.
Who does the work on your property
Every service described on this website — tree pruning and deciduous care, heritage and mature tree management, tree removal, hedge and topiary trimming, stump grinding, windbreak and shelterbelt maintenance, storm and wind damage response, land clearing and mulching and green waste removal — is performed by independent third-party contractors.
Those contractors are separate businesses. They are not owned, employed, directed, supervised or controlled by the operator of this website. They run their own crews, hold their own equipment, and carry their own obligations.
What we do not check or verify
This is the part most referral sites are vague about, so we will be blunt.
We do not verify, audit or hold copies of any contractor's insurance, licences, qualifications or certifications. We ask the crews we work with to carry current public liability cover and to work to relevant Australian standards, including AS 4373 Pruning of amenity trees. That is an expectation we set. It is not a check we perform, and it is not a warranty we can give you.
Before any work starts on your property, ask the contractor for a current certificate of currency for their public liability insurance, and take a copy. Any reputable operator will hand it over without argument. Do not treat anything published on this website as evidence that a particular contractor holds particular cover on a particular day — it is not, and it cannot be.
Reading "we" elsewhere on this site
Across the rest of the website you will read phrases like we connect you with, the crews we work with, and we cover the Southern Highlands.
Read those as describing the referral service and the network of independent contractors behind it. They are not a claim that the operator of this website is standing in the tree.
No reviews, ratings or testimonials are published here
This website publishes no customer reviews, no star rating, no review count and no testimonials, because there are none to publish. The associated Google Business Profile is new.
If you come across a tree service website carrying glowing quoted reviews with no verifiable source behind them, treat that as information about the website rather than about the tree work. When genuine reviews exist for this business, they will appear on the Google Business Profile where you can read them independently, not as unattributed quotes on a page we control.
Your agreement is with the contractor, not with us
Any quote, price, scope of work, timeframe, warranty, invoice, payment or variation is a matter between you and the independent contractor. The website operator is not a party to that agreement, does not set prices, does not supervise the work and does not hold your money.
If something goes wrong on site — property damage, an argument about price, a job left unfinished — that is resolved directly with the contractor, and if necessary through NSW Fair Trading or the courts. We are glad to hear about it, and it will inform who we refer work to in future, but we are not in a position to resolve a contract we were never part of.
The information here is general, not an assessment
The material published on this site about local species, cool-climate pruning timing, frost and cold-air drainage, basalt and sandstone soils, storm behaviour, shelterbelt management and Wingecarribee Shire Council's requirements is general information, written in good faith and researched from publicly available sources.
It is not:
- an arboricultural assessment of your tree;
- a structural, engineering, legal, planning or insurance opinion; or
- confirmation that a particular piece of work is or is not permitted on your land.
Every tree is different and every block is different. Have your own situation looked at in person before acting on anything you read here.
Council rules move — check them yourself
Tree and vegetation controls in New South Wales change regularly, and thresholds, exemptions and fees move with them. Where this website describes Wingecarribee Shire Council's requirements, or the state framework that applies to rural land, it reflects our understanding at the time of writing and may since have been superseded.
Confirm your specific tree, your zoning, your heritage and biodiversity mapping, and any approval requirement with Wingecarribee Shire Council on 02 4868 0888 before work is booked.
Trees on nature strips, in road reserves and in public reserves are managed by Council, not by adjoining property owners. Do not arrange work on them privately — report them to Council.
If it is an emergency
This website is not an emergency service, and enquiries are not monitored around the clock.
- 000 — anyone injured or trapped, or an immediate threat to life.
- Endeavour Energy 131 003 — a tree on or near powerlines, or any line on the ground. Stay at least 8 metres clear and assume every line is live.
- NSW SES 132 500 — storm and flood assistance, including a tree through a roof.
Call a tree crew once the site is safe, not before.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of this website accepts no liability for any loss, damage, cost, expense or injury arising from the work, conduct, advice, omissions or insurance position of any independent contractor, from any dealing or dispute between you and a contractor, or from reliance on the general information published on this site.
Nothing here excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Our Terms of Service set this out more fully.
