This policy explains how Southern Highlands Tree Services handles the personal information you provide through the website southernhighlandstreeservices.com.au or by telephone on (02) 4214 4160.
We aim to handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), whether or not the small business exemption in that Act applies to us.
Read this together with our Disclaimer, which explains that this site is a referral website and that the tree work itself is carried out by independent local contractors. That distinction matters here, because it is the reason your enquiry gets passed to a third party.
What we collect
When you complete an enquiry form or call us, we typically collect:
- your name;
- your phone number and, if you provide one, your email address;
- the address or general location of the property where the tree work is needed;
- a description of the job — species, size, access, what is worrying you, any photographs you choose to attach; and
- the date and time of the enquiry.
We do not ask for, and have no use for, financial information, identity documents, or health information. Please do not send them.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this one records basic technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and which pages were viewed. This is used in aggregate to understand what the site is doing and to keep it working. It is not used to build a profile of you as an individual.
Cookies and third-party services
- Hosting and delivery. The site is served through Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request logs.
- Enquiry forms. Forms on this site are embedded using LeadConnector (HighLevel). Anything you type into a form is transmitted to and stored on that platform.
- Analytics. Where site analytics are in use, they set cookies to distinguish repeat visits.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The enquiry form may not work correctly if you do.
Why we collect it, and who it goes to
We collect your details for one purpose: to arrange a quote for your tree work.
Your enquiry is passed to an independent tree contractor working in the Southern Highlands so that they can contact you, inspect the site and quote the job. That contractor is a separate business and becomes responsible for the information once it reaches them, under their own privacy practices.
We may also use your details to:
- follow up an enquiry that went unanswered;
- respond to a question you have asked; and
- keep basic records of enquiries received.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not pass it to unrelated marketing lists, data brokers or other trades.
Marketing
We may contact you about your own enquiry. If we ever send anything promotional, it will include a way to opt out, and you can tell us at any time on (02) 4214 4160 that you do not want further contact. Consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), we will act on that.
How long we keep it
Enquiry records are kept only as long as there is a reason to keep them — generally while a job is being quoted or completed, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of a follow-up question or dispute. Records that no longer serve a purpose are deleted.
Security
Information submitted through the site is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored in the form provider's systems. We take reasonable steps to protect it. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed as completely secure, and we cannot promise otherwise.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask us:
- what personal information we hold about you;
- to correct anything inaccurate or out of date; or
- to delete your enquiry record.
Call (02) 4214 4160. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no charge. We may need to confirm who you are before releasing anything. Note that once your enquiry has been passed to a contractor, you will also need to contact them directly about the copy they hold.
Children
This website is aimed at property owners and occupiers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Complaints
If you believe your information has been mishandled, tell us first on (02) 4214 4160 so we have a chance to fix it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992 or at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy as our practices or the services behind the site change. The current version always sits on this page, with the date at the top.
